A Life of Energy and Movement

How do you transition from a couch potato or a computer geek to Arnold look alike and picture of a good-looking athlete?
There is nothing wrong in trying to look and feel sexy, a healthy looking male with broad shoulders and back, tight looking butt and a decent pair of thick arms, is not a bad look to aim for now, is it?

I don’t mean you all should start trying to get jacked, not everyone wants to be all chiseled and bulky, though sexy bodies do come in all shapes and sizes.

Feeling Sexy

Your average person’s journey trying to get back in shape looks something like this.
They might off got themselves a gym set up at home in the garage or the spare room, set it all up and are eager to train hard and get quick results or got themselves a gym membership but after a while that desire dies off and excuses start kicking in.
They start out going hard on training, nutrition and supplementation but are inconsistent and quickly fall away into bad habits again. One of the biggest downfall’s when training is doing the same workouts back to back month after month, it’s a soul destroyer.
Reality Hits
This is the number one reason for quitting!
Let me tell you, I’ve been there, it gets boring very quick, you adapt to the routine within 3 weeks, change needs to happen right away after that. The muscle pumps stop, you mentally switch off, you’re not challenged any more etc etc…
Not having some type of a training plan and I don’t mean one from the internet, (they are not plans but exercises slapped up together in a particular order)
How do I know that?
Let me tell you a quick story, I was a fitness instructor around 12 years ago and my job was to do consultations with new members that have just signed up.
We would get them to fill out some forms ask some question about their health, injuries and goals
Then while they were in the room and to save time (as we had a between 5-10 new members daily)
I would quickly in around 5 min in front of the client, write out a program for the whole month.
Boom! Guess what?
I see these type of same programs people download today from the internet. They are programs from the 70s they are what we call flushing routines with back to back simple sets that lead to nowhere.
No structure, no overload, no progression. This type of routine would be good for the elderly, no joke, even than they would need to change it over time. (this is for another blog)
Anyway, back to the reason why people quit, quitting before any progress.
Never underestimate the power of a balanced lifestyle, we can all spend a lot of time inside the gym, inside the office, inside the house, shopping centres, restaurants, café’s, cars and so on…
Humans weren’t designed to spend most of their lives indoors, it is unnatural and unhealthy.
I’m always encouraging my clients to switch off now and then and get out, hit the road, start a new hobby like mountain biking, surfing, kayaking, bush walking or anything that will break the circle of being stuck indoors for too long.
Healthy mind and body will give you the power to make the right decisions in your life
